Jackie Ellis and Bill Ellis | Meet and Greet

We got talking about our Descendants Project and Edward Curtis and looked up some Curtis photos while we talked. When she saw the photo of this Inuit family, she shrieked and said that the toddler in this photograph was her friend's grandma! Well you can imagine that our jaws dropped and quickly became excited to find out that the toddler is still alive. :) Our photography friends put us in contact with Jackie Ellis from there.

We recently met with Jackie and her father Bill, in Colorado Springs to talk about our Project. Bill's mother Anna (Jackie's grandmother) was 3 years old in this photo taken in 1927 on Edward Curtis' last trip to Alaska. Anna is 94 years old and living in Florida now. We wanted to share with them what we are doing and start to arrange a visit to Florida! Given Anna's age, we are trying to get there as soon as we can!

We took some photo books from the Curtis/Graybill Family Collection of some unpublished prints from Alaska for them to look through. It was quite fun! It's great sharing family history and photos that they had never seen before. See video below. :)

We don't have a date quite yet, but are working on it!
